I'm in shock
I can't beleive the gas mileage my 70 is getting. I am not used to getting more than 10 miles to the gallon. This thing has to be getting 20. I would get a mileage figure but my tires aren't the right size. I miss the power of my v-8's and the luxury of A/C in my 92, but this I-6 is rapidly earning a place in my heart, and my wallet!

You could always calculate the mileage over a known distance....the odometer on my '72 dosent' work that great so that is what i do when i take a trip

yeah, now that I'm thinking it's getting such good mileage I'll do the math for a tank and see what she gets. my tires are 10.88% smaller than stock. my 71 gets a whopping 7 miles to the gallon on super.
I need more NAWS... I probably would blow it up |

Make your own, it wouldn't be that hard. Some flat aluminum stock, a couple short brass tubes, and some fittings soldered on them. Would make a cool project.

Well, you would need to compare the circumference of the tires....255/60's are 27" tall, so the circumference is 84.78". Divide that by the diameter of the stock tire size, and you will the the percentage error. (in case you don't know circumfirence is 3.14 x diameter).

I guess I know why my truck was getting such good mileage.... it wasn't getting any fuel. My filter clogged up yesterday, my tank is very rusty. On the up side my truck is running much better. I have more power and it runs more like I thought it should. I'm not lagging behind in traffic anymore.
I'm checking the mileage now I'll post the results after this tank is finished. |

good to hear, I am keeping the 6 in my Jimmy because I wanted something different and since it will be a daily driver I wanted some better gas mileage.

I was getting 17-19 mpg with my inline before I decided to swap it out for the small block. They are great little engines!! Some days I wish I would have kept mine

I thought I was the only one with issues like those, there has got to be some kind of support group for what we've got!
