1968 4X4 rear leaf springs ?
Looking to replace my rear leaf spring on the 68 Burb does anybody have good leads on places to purchase? I'm looking for stock height as I installed rear flip kit mounts that raises the back by 4" to match my front leaf springs already installed.
Thanks in advance! Chad

Re: 1968 4X4 rear leaf springs ?
I don't know that much about springs but I was looking at these rear springs for my 68 GMC 4x4
1991-2002 C3500HD Lenght: 56" split in the middle at 28" Width: 3" Arch: 4-5/8" OEM: 15636134 MPN: 22-1009 While they look like they will physically fit, maybe someone with more knowledge could chime in |

Re: 1968 4X4 rear leaf springs ?
If I remember correctly, 67-68 trucks have different size rear springs than the 69-72 trucks and are not an off the shelf solution.
Somebody like Eaton Detroit Spring could make you a set, that's where I would start. Otherwise, consider a spring swap. What is the width of your stock spring? If it is a 2 1/2" then a 56" spring from a square body truck (3/4 ton suburbans in the 80's had the longer spring. 1/2 tons usually had 52" spring) and relocating your rear hanger (again) to accommodate that length an option.

Re: 1968 4X4 rear leaf springs ?
The 67-68 springs are about 3.25" at the eyes and they taper to 2.5" in the middle.
The pin is in the middle and they are about 56" long I also found that a 01 - 06 2500HD / 3500 rear spring hanger (flat style) could be made to work on 67-68. This hanger has the right spacing and allows the use of existing frame holes with room to drill the hanger A PO on my 68 GMC SWB 4x4 added a rear bumper using a generic bracket and butchered the rear spring hangers. I was looking to use those 1991-2002 C3500HD rear spring and the 01-06 3500 flat style hangers but found a set of 68 front and rear spring set with all the hangers on craigslist for a $100 and a 3 hr ride. |

Try Benz Spring or Oregon Auto Spring in Portland. One of them should be able to make you a new set.
