Re: WTB Power brake conversion
I've got a master cylinder I just pulled out of my 68 C2500 that was drum drum. If it's the same as the cylinder used with a booster you can have it for the price of shipping. It'll come with the distribution block and bracket, too. I have no need for it and was contemplating dumping it, but I hate throwing away old parts

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
Isn't it just the proportioning valve that would be different?
Booster with Master cylinder doesn't care if its drum/drum, disk/drum or disk/disk but the proportioning valve does. am I missing something? I know the capacity or volume of the reservoirs makes a difference.

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
Drum/drum trucks don’t have a proportioning valve.
Just a distribution block.

I think you could still use his master cylinder and distribution block.... When I put the booster on my White '67 I just unbolted the master from the firewall, pulled it forward and bolted the booster on, then bolted the master up to the booster. I never even unhooked the lines. LockDoc

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
So it sounds like you can use my free master and block. You’d just need to purchase a booster. I’m not sure if PICKMUP’s booster would work with a drum master

This truck has a small block, so clearance isn't an issue. Let me know when you have yours ready.

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
The booster i listed yesterday will bolt up and work fine. Originally the c20 got a dual diaphragm unit but the single i listed will work.
No need to bleed the brakes either, just unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall and stretch the lines forward, sometimes you have to remove the line clamp on the frame. Remove the pedal pushrod and install the booster. |

I am completing two systems for drum/drum trucks (67-70) and should have pics tomorrow. They may be more than you are looking for, but both are certainly far better than that catalog set you show above.. 1. 9" DD booster with correct size MC and new adj dist block. $350 + $75 S/H/I. This is the same size as your original PB sys. 2. 11" DD booster with the same items as #1 above. This is a more powerful system than the original. $375 + $75 S/H/I. You may need to use two common fittings to attach your lines to the new dist block. |

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
Ebay isn't my first choice to buy from, but I just purchased this one for my 68 drum/drum C20.
I couldn't find a comparable one cheaper anywhere. It arrived yesterday, will install this weekend. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-72-Che...53.m1438.l2649

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
That EBAY unit is going the wrong direction. It is much smaller & less powerful than the original. The stock lines to your old dist block may not fit it. Be sure to check your old dist block is not plugged. That small threaded rod to the pedal is not nearly as good as the original.
Here is our new 9" DD drum/drum system. Notice the special lines from the MC to the new dist block and the solid one piece rod to the pedal. Normally the lid & bracket will be silver or zinc gold colored. I do have this one black set from another special order. Take your choice. Any questions---just ask. Thanks, Frank |

Re: WTB Power brake conversion
That certainly looks like a nice beefy set up, wish I had seen it. When I asked about what to do with my truck the forum was strangely silent that day.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=807542 If I run into any problems with the one I bought I will remember to contact you to see if there is a better option. Astro-Balls, sorry if I hijacked your thread. BTW I am recovering a dashpad right now using your tutorial.
