Bowties11. BAD DEAL

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=805692

I sent payment for the above mentioned hubcaps on May 12th 2020

I have asked for a tracking number twice.
The first time he said that his son ships his packages for him and he will get it for me.

That was the last time I heard from him. That was on 06/17/20

I asked again on 06/18/20. But he has not been online.

Now, in my opinion, without a tracking number to confirm that the item has shipped or some sort of communication, I am forced to assume that I’ve been ripped off. I hope that I am wrong as I have been a member here for years and bought a lot of items with no issues.

I paid $295usd for these including shipping. That’s $430 cdn. That’s not chump change.
I would like my caps or my money back.

Now, if something is going on his life that is slowing things down, fine. But communication is key.

I had a deal go south a few weeks back where I was the seller. I misplaced the tracking number and the item never arrived at its destination. Throughout the entire process I kept in touch with the buyer and then refunded his entire payment when we figured we had waited long enough.

I don’t want to open a dispute with PayPal but it’s been over 6 weeks since payment was sent.

That would have been the day to open the Paypal dispute, IMO...

Re: Bowties11. BAD DEAL

I was under the impression that PayPal does not pay until delivery is confirmed.
I'm not sure that is right but would like to know?

You’re not wrong, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I had that happen on something that I sold, but not on another thing.

But I’ve never had it happen on a purchase, but would be fine with it.

Maybe if you get PayPal involved, he will suddenly produce a tracking #, the caps or your money back. I would file a claim now..

Re: Bowties11. BAD DEAL

PayPal was a joke to deal with when it came to a chargeback. They wanted me to file a police report in order to forward my claim? What good is a police report going to be when dealing with an International claim? Waste of time PayPal was. And, could you imagine the look an officer would give you for wasting their time on a report that was useless and had no possibility of being enforced due to international law?
Canadian buyers beware.

a police counter report memorializes a person's statement of fact in the presence of a uniformed official where the agents of an organization cannot be present..

when an employee of my company loses a badge, they have to file police report.. the police are not going to look for their badge however it documents the employee's official statement..

in a way it's similar to having a statement notarized except that police counter reports are typically used for reports of crime or incidents that me be connected to a crime or potential crime.. eg, lost badge was stolen or employee attempting to acquire duplicate badges, etc..

police reports also elevate the validity of a complaint, in a sense reduces likelihood of a frivolous complaint.. people are less likely to make a nonsensical claim to a police officer..

this standard procedure for some companies however some will process claims with affidavit.. I haved filed both.. one example, home phone number published somewhere as a fax number and we received never ending fax calls to our phone, phone company required a police report which was simple and easy to get.. other example we had a fraudulent charge on a credit card, credit card company only required an affidavit..

good luck!

Thumbs up Re: Bowties11. BAD DEAL

Hmm! Thanks Killer Bee.

This information does make a valid point when a police report is required. I wish I knew this when dealing with my PayPal claim. I'll definitely refer to this information if I ever need to file a claim, or if a police report is required. Good information, and thank you for taking the time to relay the message.

Have a good one eh!

Re: Bowties11. BAD DEAL

Well, the seller contacted me by phone a few weeks or maybe a month ago. Said he’d get my caps in the mail but once again, no tracking number or follow up.

I tried to file a dispute with PayPal but received no response from them.

I have to be honest that this has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Guys like this really destroy the hobby.

I have been contacted by a few other members who are in the same position as me. I think it’s time that the board bans him permanently or at least Bans him from ever selling again as it appears that I am not the only one has gotten totally screwed.

Just more proof that he doesn’t give a crap about this board, his reputation or being a decent human being.

I sent him a PM and asked him to respond to the original for sale thread and linked it. He logs in almost daily so there is no excuse for the lack of response to your inquiries.

YBNORML I hate that this happened.

Thank you. I know that you guys run a tight ship. This situation is in no way a representation of the board. Just one guy being slimy.

I’ve pretty much given up on getting my caps or my money back. At this point I’d just like to make sure that he doesn’t screw anyone else over.

Thank-you for taking a look at this. I emailed you a few weeks back to submit a formal complaint against Bowties11. I also did not receive part my order. Many, many excuses to the point of ALMOST giving up. There's still hope!

I did not receive a message from you. I did send him a PM and asked that he respond to you as well. You can start a new thread here regarding your issues as the OP of this thread has had his problem resolved.

It's been 10 business days and Bowties11 has not responded. I'm sure anyone who conducts business transactions would consider this a reasonable amount of time to respond or respond to.
This complaint remains unresolved.
