I have quite a few sets of heads that have been cleaned and mag-na-fluxed ,but will need to be reworked. I'm not sure which heads are considered 882's , but if you can give me the casting #'s that will work for you, I'll check to see if I have what you need.

Donnie I wished i knew this a week ago ,I just gave my store manager a set of 882's . Why do you want a set ? you do know that is one of the worst sets for cracking!I may have a set of 487x heads but shipping would be high.

I need the heads for my racecar engine,I'm running a pure street divsion car and I cant run the doublehump heads but we can shave them down and they have to be straight plug heads with no less than 70cc and 3 angle valve job,I was told that I need 882 heads can someone give me some good advise on this,I think the 882 heads would be fine!!!!!!!!!

882s are fine. The cracking issue is WAY over stated. Not to mention there is a light weight casting, and a heavy weight castin.
These heads are one of the better heads that are still commonly found. I hade mine up to about 260 degrees when I tossed a fan belt a couple years ago, compression test showed all to be fine, so I'll asume no damage...esp when you consider it was over 2 years in the past. Big Orange, you should be able to find a set in a local wrecking yard, one of the most common castings out of the entire decade of the 70's. |

I had a set of heavy 882's I sold on ebay to a guy for his race car. Must be a common set for racers to use. Didn't get much for them though. I should imagine that they would be pretty common in junk yards. Good luck.

That is the hole reason for asking you guys,I'm just starting out in this racing thing and theres 3 tracks in the nearby area so the other racer's have kinda eat up all the 882 heads around here, besides most of the salvage yards around here will only sell complete engine only! There not that exspensive from what I've been told because there so plentifull but I figured it would be easier to get them through someone on the board!

Might also want to check ebay, I know they go cheap there too. I think I sold mine for less than $50, but mine were bare castings.
Also might want to check out this site and post a want ad there. They have been helpful to me for some engine parts. |
