47-55.1 Doug thorley headers

These are Doug Thorley THY-327Y-C. They appear to be made almost identical to shorties but are long tube and looks like they may work on an AD. Wondering if anyone running a stock frame & MMII tried them?

The price puts them way out of my budget 815.00 list price and a 659.00 sale price would eat a half a year's truck budget for me.

I'm pretty sure that they will fit inside the AD frame rails without an issue and should clear the crossmember. The 67/72 truck crossmember and lower A arms stick back behind the motor mounts for a small block quite a ways.

I snagged these two shots off Hubscrub's build thread on the 67 he is building over in the 67/72 pages. Stock exhaust but you can visualize pretty close to where the tubes would run down on the truck they were designed for.

One other thing to think about is how much they drop though. The third photo is the joe cheap Patriot header off my 71 when I had the 350 in it. The bottom of the flange on the collector is almost 18 inches below the centerline of the and they hung down below the frame quite a bit on the 71, I'm thinking that they had to go that low for the exhaust to clear the crossmember under the truck.

Yeah, I know they’re a bit pricey. It’s a toss up between those and a new chrome grill. It’s kinda hard to judge by those pictures, but I don’t think they’ll drop down too much.
