vaccum gauge

how would a vaccum gauge help u out? I'm just wondering as to im getting one for free and it matches my other gauges and id like to fill the hole where the clock went with something other than a fuel pressure gauge that isnt hooked up. i also ordered a mech. oil pressure gauge cause im sick of it just being pegged out a little farther then 60 when im crusing and just seeing about 30 at idle lol. but anyways how would one benift me?

Good way to tell if you suddenly get a vaccume leak, lol -- There is also the coolness factor of it

well my other gauges are of this type. the only ones left stock are my speedo and my gas gauge. and ill probally replace those and buy a tach to put in the place of the gas gauge and get a small gas gauge and put it on the pillar.

Why don't you get a small gas gauge to put into the place where you are thinking of putting the vaccume gauge in?

I have a vaccum gauge in mine. It helps, if you have really low vaccum you know something is wrong. its also another reference point, I always know I have about 16" of vaccum @ idle in drive. Its just nice to get everything perfect. And it definitely gives conversation...

Whats that? Vaccum gauge...
Whatsit do? Lemmie tell you...

You can hook up the vacuum gage anywhere you can get full vacuum from. Manifold, carb.

Mine is to my carb on fulltime vaccum advance, I have a T splitter for it. I mounted it in one of the AC vents in the middle. I plan on putting 2 other gauges in there to finish the hole up. Dont know what gauges to put there though.

I've got one in my truck. To tell you the truth, it's not worth much, except for having another gauge too look at. No real useable info. A lot of folks will say you can use it to save fuel by keeping your vacuum as high as you can. Yeah, right.

If you have one and somewhere to put, I say go for it. But for sure, it's not going to do much for you as far as performance or keeping track of engine condition. Sure, if you have really low vacuum it will tell you, but you will know this way before you ever notice it on the gauge. I never look at mine. Just a another big waste of money as far as I'm concerned. But hey, so is 99% of the stuff on my truck.

Vacuum gauge can give good indication of how your engine is running/operating. Its just another tool to monitor your engine.

You can use a vacuum gauge to tune your carb. but it would be hard to see if your under the hood and its inside. Get one of these instead for $70

It needs to hooked straight to manifold vacuum Find a hose coming from the intake and tee into this hose.

Should work just fine as long as it's got full vacuum at idle.

yes

can the mityvac setup be used to bleed brakes? i HATE bleeding brakes, and that would be perfect for eliminating that problem if it will work.

The Mityvac works great bleeding brakes. It works for anything requiring vacuum. It will also work the other way and put pressure on things.

Everyone needs one of these sets. One of the best tools you will have. You can check things that work off vacuum for leak down. Check the vacuum advance to see how much advance you have and the amount of vacuum required to start it, etc. Just an all around great tool. No one who does tuning or vacuum work in general should be without.

Just unhook it while the truck is running at idle and see it's it's sucking air.
