Are those corners just welded up in the repaired area? It's hard to tell from the pics.

Yes. The corners are welded. It's all metal. I know the pics look like pitting, but it's mostly due to the discoloring from the heat of the welder. I used a cheap welder, so the welds were not pretty. I began grinding the welds down and was in the process of finishing it when I decided to change directions on my build. I'll get some closer pics for you tomorrow if you'd like.

Here’s some close ups. The spots you see are the welds. It still needs a bit more work, but much it’s done. It’s a solid core to restore.
