Re: 72 Extreme Bend Tow Hooks

there in even a gentleman reproducing these now. they look super good and really really close to original. only missing the numbers. he sells a lot and word is getting around. i say sell these for what you can get now before prices keep dropping. i think people now would spend the bigger bucks on there projects on things that are more noticeable to the eye while walking around or on oem parts when it comes to factory fitment issues

Re: 72 Extreme Bend Tow Hooks

Yeah Bill White produced a good batch of hooks! I think he’s about sold out of them too. I haven’t learned of any new impending order either??

The originals always will demand a premium. These are clean. Not all full of scars from chains, etc. Light blast and some powder coat or spray bomb, lol.

Shipping to Cali is going to cost a bunch. I can’t go a dollar less than $860 to your door/insured. Covers the materials to properly pack and ship.

Aren't the repos cast instead of forged.

Re: 72 Extreme Bend Tow Hooks

Yes, the repos are cast. They are cast steel. Very bad news.
Not as strong from a tensile strength standpoint.
But the bigger issue is they are "brittle" compared to forged. Meaning they are not good when jerked.
There are real engineering reasons why all OEM ones are forged.

I hope no one dies using them. Not the ones buying them for appearance, show. But future owners who think they can actually use them.

I am a a retired mechanical engineer who worked most of my career at John Deere and Mercury Marine. I worked in technical procurement and purchased many types of forgings.

DO NOT BUY THE REPO TOW HOOKS!!!!

Terry
