Engine Stands
So I've gone back and forth over the years on what I'm doing for a powertrain for my 71. It originally had a 350, was gonna go LS and have since gotten rid of the motor stands that came with it. I'm back to putting a SBC in my truck and need to find some stands. Will one's from a square body work? There's a plethora of them in the pick n pull down the road from me or do I need to be on the look out for ones from a 67-72?

Re: Engine Stands
The squares will work, it’s been done. That style of motor mount is WAY better than the previous.
As I recall there are 2 different heights of clamshells that bolt to the block. I’m not sure which one is best or if it even makes a lot of difference. The square body stands are all the same and have multiple holes for different engines. I think they’re even stamped which is for what.

Re: Engine Stands
Here are a set on a 67 frame with a small block that I parted out . I still have them sitting in a box ready to list on the parts board . They are heavy .

I think the frame has to be notched a little bit where they sit. Maybe 3/8ths of an inch or so. LockDoc
