Anyone in here own a Yak
Looks like I might be buying a 2007 Kodiak
Never owned one, much less any kind of Diesel, any advice other than throwing lots of $ at her? Likes, dislikes, would you own again, or no way? *Mods please move if this isn't the right group.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
It has the Duramax Diesel engine, in another thread he mentioned it was a c4500. 8.1 gas and 6.6 diesel were the only 2 engine options in 4500/5500 01-10.
You looking for any specific info? Shouldn't need to throw lots of money at it unless it needs work. But just like any modern diesel, everything is more expensive than its comparable gas twin. The engine will be the same as a 2500hd/3500 (LBZ) but detuned for less power. 2007 should have the full 6 speed transmission. 06+ have a 6 speed transmission but the 6th gear is locked out from the factory until 2007 or 2008 models. It can be enabled with a computer reflash from the dealer. Change the oil every 5000 miles and fuel filter every 10,000. Add a lift pump to help out the injection pump and get extra filtration. Go to dieselplace.com and search their heavy haulers section. There was alot of good info back in the day. Its slowed down alot now though.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
So what do you plan to do with it?
I was thinking that a 12' cabover camper on a flatbed C4500 would be nice stable rig.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
Well, congratulations for wanting to get a Real Truck to pull a heavy trailer
A couple years ago I was sorta drooling over the fiber optic construction outfit's C4500 flatbed. I think they said it had a 6.0 gas in it (same as I now have in my K2500HD WT). Of course I was also drooling over their JD-650 dozer. I really wanted to borrow it over the weekend while it was sitting at the end of my driveway

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
That is a beautiful truck, a local guy had one just like it in white for a long time, he hotshotted campers and loved it, swore he'd never have a regular pickup again.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
Actually that was my buddies Ram that made the trip
with me. He pulled my trailer empty to NY (Avg. 11.8) & I pulled back my trailer with his on it. (Avg. 13.1) I have wanted one for years, Thanks

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
Been awhile, need to update my post. Had a 5 year
ceramic coating done, some paint correction, all the diamond plate polished, and also the wheels. Not to shabby looking for a vehicle that has just turned 15. *I have since replaced all those step pads on it also. Took the poor detail guy close to a week and 1/2

Just a few, basically all stock, with low mileage.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
So is the engine serviced like a van, from inside the cab?

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
There is a dog house like a van, but the majority
of the motor reachable standing behind the tires.

Re: Anyone in here own a Yak
That's a real nice one! Friend of mine picked up a 'Super-C' Kodiak motorhome last year. They still go for good money.

Do you still call it The Luv Shack or is it now the Yak Shack?
