What are these screws in the inner fender/splash shield for?
I have four screws in my drive side fender/splash shield at the top near the emission sticker. There are two vacant holes a little further down and toward the vacant auxiliary battery tray. It looks like something was mounted here and removed. Was there a factory option, dealer option or just something a previous owner did to mount something?
I'm starting prepping to repaint the inner fenders due to rust caused by a failed master cylinder. I stopped sanding because the California emission sticker on the fender is currently not reproduced and don't know what the screws in the fender are for. I can probably make new CA emissions labels and I'd like to fill the holes but won't if they should be there. Not sure if this info helps but it's a 72 Blazer CST 350ci/350 auto 4WD with AC, auxiliary battery, hand throttle from California with a CA emissions sticker on the fender. I was told by the previous owner the Blazer had a winch that he removed. Maybe there were winch controls mounted here? Attached are photos and the SPID. Any ideas of what happened here?

Re: What are these screws in the inner fender/splash shield for?
I bet the holes were for a winch control component given that history. Cruise control transducer is another thought.
I’ve been working with Ironcanine to reproduce the CA emissions decal and that should be wrapped up very soon. The final draft was approved weeks ago. He deserves all the credit for the work though.

Re: What are these screws in the inner fender/splash shield for?
How do I get in line for a new repo CA emissions decal?
Thanks for the response. Winch control seems most likely since it does not have cruise control.

Stay tuned. I’ll reach out with a PM and post a dedicated sale thread when the decals are in hand.

I'm guessing cruise control bracket, but I will have to find mine to be sure

Re: What are these screws in the inner fender/splash shield for?
Here’s one example of a winch component affixed to the inner fender.
