FS- 67 283 and 3spd w/ overdrive - Pa

I will be pulling out the 283 out of my 67 c-10 between christmas and new years. It has 37K original miles. The truck was a farm truck. It is a 2 barrel and all original. It runs great. The trans is a manual 3 spd w/ the overdrive option (cable under the dash). It also works great. Both are complete. $800 Call Brian w/ questions @ 814-333-2704 or reply here. Thanks.

overdrive

It was a fairly rare option. It has a pull handle with a cable under the dash that activates the overdrive. The option is listed on the glovebox sticker if I remember. Kinda cool actually.

The 3 speed OD was just a different geared version of the standard 3 speed.

Standard 3-speed
First 2.85 : 1
Second 1.68 : 1
Third Direct

3-speed OD
First 2.00 : 1
Second 1.18 : 1
Third 0.70 : 1

Both had a 2.95:1 reverse

motor

Everything goes. Exhaust manifolds, fuel pump, distributor, wires, fan, pulleys, alternator, etc. I do need the clutch linkage though. But the bellhousing, clutch, etc all go with it. Hell, I'll even throw in the oil (it needs changed). If you want, I can call your significant other and tell her that it would make a nice christmas present!!!

3SPD OD

VT: I think he is talking about a rare 3spd with an OD unit in the rear. High and low in each of three gears---more like a 6spd if you have the time to play with it. If you really get good at it, you can even "split-shift" it... An old truckers term.

Anyone have a reasonable delivery charge for this engine/transmission to Nebraska right on Interstate 80? I would love to have this for my 67. Any idea what freight might be to get it out here?

Mark

trans

4M10AM is option code. Forgot my camera at work. For those who have inquired, everything for the overdrive trans is included. Basically, motor and trans will be unbolted and sold as complete.

motor/trans

I don't have any definite bites on the package yet. So, if you guys want to talk amonst yourselves and work out some kind of a deal, that's fine. I may be up for shipping the trans, but I don't really want to do the motor. Brian

You’ve probably already considered this but are you sure you want to separate that truck and the original drive line? I know the OD tranny option does not have any go-fast hot rod appeal but an original truck with original OD it sure will have a lot off cool/rare option appeal down the road.

I know many won’t agree with me but I think the OD transmission will be a pretty cool/desirable option some day in an old stock truck.

Just my .02 for what it’s worth. It sounds like you already have plans for the rest of the truck.

motor/trans

It was the only option the truck had (v8 and overdrive). It was a farm truck in texas. I try to keep the heavily optioned trucks original, but this was the only option on the truck. A bare bones deal.

Hotfun, glad to see someone is buying that setup in one piece. What plans do you have for it? Just a neat thing to have. See on your post you have an 87 SWB 4x4. I'm in the process of putting a frame under my 87 right now, not to much left to do. Couldn't find a 4x4 frame around here so had to go with a 2 wheel drive and drill a bunch of new holes, Quite a job!!
Do you have any pictures of yours you could post??

Thanks Bruce
