69 c10 hood and door questions?

I have a 69 c10 fleetside I purchased and has a beautiful paint job on it but the goofball shaved the door locks outside and inside, welded up holes! Also the bowtie holes in the hood welded up. Always heard it's hard to drill through a weld, never tried it. I really want the Bowtie on the hood, someone have some experience with drilling through a welded up hole and how I can mark where to drill for the Hood Bowtie????Also I thought maybe I could get some kind of aftermarket power door locks, but ones I've seen you need your door locks on your truck which I don't have.Anyway, anyone have a solution to locking my doors? I sure would appreciate any help and advice on these 2 problems.:chevy.

Doug the lock mechanism is part of the door latch. I would think electric locks would connect to the latching assembly. Perhaps double stick tape would work for the bowtie.

Didn't the 67 and 68 trucks not have the bowtie on the hood? That was always on the center of the grille.

Are you talking about the little letters that spelled out "CHEVROLET"?

I wonder if the 67-68 letters would work on the 69 hood.

Hey Dugout, when you get a chance, post some required pictures of your truck!

Have my bow tie next to me on the bench . Took it off as the blue insert was cracked and falling out . Yes , it goes on the center of the hood on my 1969 C 10 . Has a couple 3/8" nuts on the inside of the hood . Good luck .

I would say the only thing you would need the original locks for is in case you lock the electric ones and the battery goes dead, so you could get into the truck. On our trucks, if you didn't have an interior hood release all you would have to do is open the hood and use jumper cables or a jump starter to power it up.....
