Hey guys I need to buy the paint for my 56 Chevy truck. Where do you guys suggest buying the paint? I’m going with a dark charcoal gray satin. Hope you guys can help. Thank you

Re: Satin paint
This place has a whole line of low gloss colors. Can be bought in kits or separately. Sprayed out real nice at a reasonable price. https://www.shop.thecoatingstore.com...Colors_c64.htm

Re: Satin paint
Wow that looks pretty good. Do you know how this paint compares to Hot Rod Flatz?

Re: Satin paint
You can buy the satin clear at any decent automotive paint store now. You still use the same base coat and put a satin clear on it.
Paint store dude didn't tell me that the Lacquer paint I was buying for my 48 in 1973 was a base coat/clear coat paint and I never cleared it and had one of the original satin paint jobs. I won't go into how many hours I buffed and polished on that paint trying to get it to shine.

Re: Satin paint
I would say it’s every bit as good. Like mr48chevy said you can spray a semi gloss or matte clear over any base coat. The reason I bought this is it’s a single stage paint, meaning you don’t need to spray a clear coat over it although you can if you want.

Yea I got a quote today on a BC/CC with the satin clear and it was $400. I wasn’t reall wanting to spend that much.

Re: Satin paint
I think Norcal girl may have the winner here. You have UPS ground costs but still get good paint for a more reasonable cost.

Re: Satin paint
The guy painting my truck has done a lot of satin paint jobs, so thankfully he’s doing it and not me lol.
