What am I missing about this $1,000 battery tray?
So I was browsing the internet and came across this (see below link). Can someone enlighten me as to why these are valuable and how they have sold 51 of these? Maybe I am missing something?

Re: What am I missing about this $1,000 battery tray?
I think I saw on the board one time that sellers crank up the price like that when something is out of stock instead of just pulling the listing knowing no one would buy at that price.
I havent done anything via ebay for years though, so I may be all wet.

Hmm...that's an interesting theory. Ok, so maybe the world hasn't gone mad and now battery trays are $1K?

It's the A/C version that's why! Lol!
Actually I've also heard the out of stock story too. I think eBay charges them if they pull the item then relist it. American Ingenuity....adapt and overcome. |

Re: What am I missing about this $1,000 battery tray?
I just bought a 72' parts truck with a nice rust free battery tray for $1500. I would be glad to sell the tray for $900. Seeing what some people want for parts for these trucks is crazy! They ain't 63' split window Vets!

Quote:
Neither are COPO as Iron mentioned Have a repop and discovered a COPO stamp though. Not sure what worth but may ditch the original in favor of it Trivia, the clip on my 71 box was bolted on, the 72 spot welded or however they do. 72 didn't get the extra clip either It's for fun and hauling, she doesn't even get heat or wipers.

Re: What am I missing about this $1,000 battery tray?
I have seen this exact issue several times on parts that are out of stock. They are too lazy to create a new add and this way when people have the item they had for sale saved on a watch list, they still stay saved. A ploy used to keep their eBay items in watch lists for when it is back in stock.

Re: What am I missing about this $1,000 battery tray?
It's no $1000 tray right, but I picked this up today from powder coat. Much better than expected really, he spent some time blasting it, only the top of the tray saw some abuse. Anyway, just one side of the box has a stamp of any sort, which is the part number, is that common? Just curious. Seems they'd stamp the other, but it wouldn't be unlike factory to do something different.
