Removing overspray on a reproduction bezel
Looking for what solvent to use to remove some overspray from a reproduction bezel - some paint got on the "chrome" and I want to try and remove it without removing the chrome as well. Any experience with this or know if acetone will be the best bet?

Re: Removing overspray on a reproduction bezel
Is the chrome metal, or plastic???
When tackling a job like this, start out with the least aggressive cleaner, possible, like window cleaner, see what happens., Leave things like paint thinner to the very end, if needed. |

Re: Removing overspray on a reproduction bezel
I'm pretty sure the entire bezel is plastic, that's a good call - I'll work my way up and try it out on and old bezel first and see what happens.

Re: Removing overspray on a reproduction bezel
I'd recommend trying a clay bar. If it truly is overspray, it should pull it right off. I used one to remove overspray on a van I painted in my tiny garage. Nothing would remove the overspray (even a finger nail wouldn't make it budge), but a good application, per the instructions, and it all came off without touching the paint finish underneath.
Caveat, I'm not sure what the clay bar and wax would do to a plastic chrome finish but I can't imagine it would harm it... I would avoid chemical thinners, as they will likely react with the plastic chemistry. |

Spray bomb use mineral spirits , Automotive paint , it's not coming off without ruining the chrome plastic finish
