Parking Brake cables
My '68 gmc has been completely stripped of parking brake cables in it's previous life. All I have is the handle that goes under the dash. I was wondering if a universal replacement kit like this
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Adjustable-Emergency-Brake-Cable-Kit-Cut-to-Length,400798.html[/url] would be easier than trying to collect all the parts to recreate the original cable system. Has anybody out there tried this? Thanks. |

Re: Parking Brake cables
If it were me I'd find all the original parts and go that route. I just completely replaced everything under my 67 except the inside handle and first cable. Not at all difficult.
The reason I say this is almost everything I've tried that was "universal" fit at some point during installation I thought I should have gone another route. Saying that, you might get feedback from someone that used the universal kit with no issues.

Re: Parking Brake cables
I used AC Delco from Rockauto , Everything fit and price was good .
I've learned that parts listed as "universal " really means GOOD LUCK ! It may work ... For awhile ...Maybe ,,,

Grumpy,
Would you happen to have a list of the part numbers you ordered? Thanks |
