Help with brake parts.

So I have disk brakes from a '71 on my '69 GMC. When I'm buying parts like the booster, master cylinder, brake lines, would I just order parts for a '71?? Thanks.

Re: Help with brake parts.

Yes. The parts you mentioned will have to be for a 71 (or 72). The steel brake lines on the frame come out in a different spot, where attached to the calipers vs. where they were for drum brakes...

If this conversion has already been done by someone else, there's a chance they may have done it a little differently...beware. You might post pictures of your calipers, hoses, and such before you buy any parts to make sure...

also note that some reuse the original 1/4" front lines for the disk brakes - which still works - but factory for the disk front brakes is 3/16" lines.

I got the disk brakes, upper/lower control arms, spindles, and steering linkages from my buddies '71 or '72 donor truck. So right now there is no brake lines. I need all new everything brake related otherwise. Seems easy enough. Just order brake related parts for 71 or 72.

Thanks for that info. I'll definitely note that.

Re: Help with brake parts.

You might see if you can get the brake line mounting tabs so you can route the new lines in the factory location.
