Need a factory A/C Expansion Valve
I'm putting my factory A/C back together and have a new expansion valve (ACDelco 15-5428) which would work if it would fit into the factory air housing. The inlet and outlet on the original expansion valve are 5/8", the replacement has an outlet of 3/4" but came with a 5/8" adapter. If I use the adapter, the expansion valve will not fit into the housing because it sticks up too tall. I've got an e-mail into OldAire and LMC to see if they have expansion valves that don't require an adapter. Has anyone else run into this and what did you do? Thanks.
Thought I found a solution, NAPA TEM 207307... but it's identical but only $17 vs. $52. Nevermind... both will work. I zip tied the tube that runs along side it so it wouldn't move keeping everything raised up. Took the zip tie off and everything tucks into place. So if you need a new expansion valve, save some money and buy the NAPA one. Last edited by 61hawk; 04-17-2021 at 12:44 PM. |
