Lmc front 67 grill trim is terrible! Anyone else have this issue?

I ordered the front upper and lower aluminum trims from lmc and I’ve spent hours trying to make it work. I thought it was the clips but then I put one in my old trim and it popped right in. I think they squeezed the little channel the clips into, too tight and it’s not wide enough to allow the clips in? Any suggestions or maybe a better quality supplier for these?

I fought the tail light trim like you are, they are similar so I am posting what worked for me.
On my first try I pushed too hard and damaged the aluminum bezel. However, after purchasing a replacement bezel I managed to get it to work. First, can you go up a 1/64 on drill size of the holes? Something to consider but may not be mandatory. They be sure the holes are debured on both sides. Typical takes a deburing tool like the one in the picture. Then paint the bare metal if you have any. I used a pliers to collapse the clip as much as I could and retain some shape. Then brush on a little grease on the clips. This worked for me. The reproduction clips are crap in my opinion but it's what we have to work with.
Best of luck.
Rick

Sorry for the trouble, but it's important to understand that LMC sells stuff, they don't make anything. Another vendor likely as not sells the same thing, from the same maker.

File or grind the clip just enough to fit?

Re: Lmc front 67 grill trim is terrible! Anyone else have this issue?

First, I thought this might come up, but I'm not knocking LMC in anyway. They have more stuff for sale than any other vendor for these trucks. I am, however, knocking the quality of these trims/clips. I have a lot to restore on this truck and the last thing I have time for is to spend hours on is getting these silly little clips to fit in the channels with the trim they were supposedly designed for. I was asking if anyone had any other alternatives to the brand that LMC sells. I was really surprised to see the quality vs the price they charge for 10 cents of thin aluminum and poorly made clips. I get frustrated with many things along the way as it becomes tedious, but this one is up there.

Google YoPeCo products and see if you can locate their online catalog. Or someone in your area the reps for them. We have such a place near me so I don't have to buy fasteners by the box. They handle a lot of the oem type fasteners.

No. The ones I used came with the lmc trim as a set. These are black and have two wire springs per clip.

I don't mean this bad but everybody says the same thing you do but I install them all the time with out issue a lot of it is experience. Yes they probably could be made better but they will work with patience. Just my experience.

Re: Lmc front 67 grill trim is terrible! Anyone else have this issue?

Oh, I agree. I'm sure they will install with enough patience. I just don't think I have that much patience when I realized the clips would install in the original trim within seconds and I spent an hour messing with the new trim to try and get two clips to stay in place. I quickly decided I'd rather spend that time getting the braking system operation rather than messing with the trim.
