New rims and tires
Its time to ditch the 16.5" wheels on my 71 C-20. Its an 8 lug wheel, so I know I'm a bit limited on wheel selection. I think i'm going to go with the wheel below. I need some help with wheel and tire size- I think an 18x9 will work.

Re: New rims and tires
16.5's are a PITA. I dumped mine.
But your truck looks cool with the steelies and caps. I would keep it the same but with 16's. Same look...Less hassle.

Re: New rims and tires
Since you asked for help - I can’t imagine anything other than steelies and PO3s on your truck. Just personal opinion. While I have had luck finding 16.5 tires, agree with Paul that 16s are a great option with greater tire selection than 16.5s and nubs to retain the caps. I’m biased, I admit it, but I picture the wheels posted as something more suited to a very custom slammed swb show truck.

Re: New rims and tires
Do you plan on changing your ride height? Your truck looks pretty low. There are not many 8 lugs wheels available with enough backspace to keep the tire inside the wheel well. Keep in mind a 18x9 wheel is actually 10 inches wide. You would need at least 5.5" backspacing on the front to keep 18x9s inside the wheel wells and depending on your tire size you still might rub the tire on the outside. Do your tires rub now?

I plan on keeping the ride height where it is, nothing rubs now. The truck has 4.11 gears in it. The tires are about 27” tall- which means 3500 rpm is only 70 mph....

No, spend the money on 18" Detroit steel wheels, they have the clips for stock

Re: New rims and tires
^^^ No 8-lug
I like the 8" steel wheel with caps look. The wheel you show ain't ugly. The question on 9" fitting is about front end clearance of wheel, then tire clearance. If you want the same size tire all around you might end up with a size that looks too small on the rear.

Re: New rims and tires
I’m not sure you are going to get much taller tires on that truck with it sitting so low

Detroit Steel does make the Del Ray style (in photo) and the smoothies in 8 lug.

Re: New rims and tires
There's not too much I would change about your truck, I love it as it sits. I do support a wider wheel in the back, though, the backspacing on yours is presently a little inward: I would fill up that wheelwell. Truck has great stance and I think it would look great with a 10" wheel in back.
Wheel Vintiques makes just the thing: a stock looking deep dish steel wheel that I think would look great on your truck, especially powdercoated Navajo White. You can keep your dog dishes and also go with a wide street tire. But if you are leaning towards that modern look, hey its your truck and don't let anyone tell you what to do. Solve your rpms with an overdrive or taller rear gears, tires are for looks and handling in my opinion, not for mpg.

Re: New rims and tires
Yep, I'm thinking the DSW Del Ray wheel. 18 x8 front and 18 x9 rear
powder coat them, clean up my hubcaps and it'll look great!
