Weather seals and rubber 71 Suburban
Hi All,
My 71 is at paint right now and I'm doing my best to collect all the weather seals, door bumpers, and rubber for it. I'm hoping to be able to get most if not all to completely refresh the truck. I have yet to find a complete package so I've been piecing it together as I go. Below is my current list. I'm sure I'm missing a lot as there aren't many category items for Suburban. Would you please let me know if you see anything that I'm missing and point me in the right direction? Here is my current list: Brothers Trucks: DFSS03D 1967-72 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK DOOR WEATHERSEAL - SUBURBAN/ PANEL SUBURBAN 1 $58.99 SSW6772 1967-72 CHEVY/GMC SUBURBAN SIDE WINDOW SEALS REAR SIDE WINDOW PAIR 1 $311.99 SCDG072 1960-72 CHEVY/GMC SUBURBAN DOOR HINGE GROMMETS GROMMETS 1 $34.99 W172DLX 1971-72 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK WINDSHIELD SEAL - DELUXE 1 $36.99 VWW0072 1967-72 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK VENT WINDOW SEAL SET PAIR 1 $43.99 PSK72FS 1971-72 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK FLEETSIDE PAINT SEAL SET 1 $36.45 THank you! |

Re: Weather seals and rubber 71 Suburban
I have heard that the 35 round Plastic Interior Plugs #11749 are no longer available. And the oval ones on the door pillar have not been available since the GM stock ran out decades ago. Be very careful if you have to remove any of them.
I sourced replacement body mount bushings from Classic Heartbeat for my Burban. You might enjoy looking at the first 5 or so pages of the WMB thread below where I posted some of the trials and tribulations I experienced with mine during the paint part of the project.

Re: Weather seals and rubber 71 Suburban
Ha...I know, Paul...and that's just the seals and rubber items! Not that I've had my body & paint guy start yet, but one of the first things he asked was "do you have new...this and that, etc?"...and he was kind of impressed when I said "yes I do!" That's why I made a hard copy of the list.

Re: Weather seals and rubber 71 Suburban
I did the same total rubber replacement on my 71 (barn door). The only suprise i got was with barn door hinge seals. For some reason when the doors were installed there was not enough room between the hinge bracket and the body. Not sure if that was because the aftermarket parts are thicker than original part. If I would have discovered this before paint I could have widened the hinge clearance passage hole. The other mistake was not installing the gasket onto the hinge arm before shimming and fitment of the door. It is a pain to remove hinge and correct the error now so I had to split the gasket to fit it.
I will probably cut the lip from the rubber seal and attach it with good quality sealant. Our burb never sees rain so seal is not a big issue Hope this helps. |

Re: Weather seals and rubber 71 Suburban
I am pretty sure the lift gate and barn door hinge seals are the same. I too was not satisfied with the fit of them compared to the original factory seals. If I could go back I would reuse the originals.
