Broken rear shock stud

So I am swapping rear axles on my 70 and of course one shock stud snaps. What can be done to replace that stud. Of course the mount is riveted on with no way to get to it. Has anyone had to do it? Thanks

Re: Broken rear shock stud

If it's the cup shaped piece, cut the stud close to the cup. Drill out and replace with grade 8 bolt ...sized for inside of shock, double, washers, double nut on back. Will be hard to get to...possible replace and bolt on another shock mount....maybe some one else will chime in with better option

Re: Broken rear shock stud

I should have another shock mount, if you decide to go that route.

Re: Broken rear shock stud

Thanks guys. I ordered one of those Monroe threaded repair studs. If I can’t get to the back of it I think I’ll grind out those big rivets and grade eight bolt the mount back on
