Does the late 70s van share the same grill as the truck?

I have heard the van grills are the same as the trucks except for the mounting tabs. One has long tabs one has short.

Re: Does the late 70s van share the same grill as the truck?

I would assume that all the years are the same, but I do know that the grilles are pretty much the same Grille, from Van to truck. As stated by Sean, the tabs are shorter on one of the grilles grilles, but it can still be used on the truck. I have a Van Grille on my truck.
It is the truck that has the shorter tabs, and it’s mainly the tabs on each end of the Grille. The ones in the center are very close to be the same length.

This grill came out of a van. Crazy story, had been looking for this grill for over 10 years. Neighbors garage caught on fire. I was helping clean the damage. He was handing me stuff from the attic when he handed me this grill. I got a little excited and he gave it to me as a gift. Fit perfect. He bought a I think 79 van new and put a custom grill in as soon as he could. had this in the attic ever since. was $700 at the time. they repop them now, so you can find cheaper. But mine is original

Nice find! Mine was a NOS part. New truck grilles we’re going for $700-$1000 for an 81-87. But I found this on eBay for $250. It was for a Van, did a little research and found that were the same. This was probably 6-7 years ago. So people have caught on to selling the Van grilles for just about as much as the truck grilles.

I have also seen several of the trucks that actually have both sets of holes in the panel the grille mounts to so it doesn't matter if it's truck or van grill for 81.87

I wonder if the pre 78 style van grill can be adapted to the truck?

That’s how mine was. I have both holes, so it mounted just fine.

81 and 82 grills mount different then 83 ups. The top is the same but the bottom is different. On my 81 thate are 4 screws on the bottom. That I have to get under the pickup to get access to.
