Hello from TX - 1968 C10

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for the add. I've been slowly restoring my fathers truck over the last 2 years. It's a 1968 C10 Custom Long Bed (Short Bed Now). PS, PB, AC.
I really appreciate this community and look forward to sharing the progress. Thanks to everyone who contributes here, it has been super helpful!

Work Done So Far:

Blast and Painted Frame
CPP 3/4 drop kit
Moog Front End
Boyd Tank
Brothers Shortbed Conversion

Currently working on rust repair and LS engine build.
Lots left to be done!

Thanks Again!

Welcome! We like to see pictures of your truck over here, so please throw some up when you get a chance

EDIT: I see now that you've added some pictures. Great work so far! The firewall section doesn't look like a fun piece to fix

Re: Hello from TX - 1968 C10

Thanks for the posts and pics. Love `em.
I'd consider a 5 lug conversion since you can move to disks in the front from many later years and even the rears land in the local picnpull fairly often. There are 3-4 picnpulls in DFW and lots of other similar outfits. Picnpulls just allow you to search inventory.
5-lug all around gives some wheel choices and disk brakes in the front is a good thing.

Thanks! Yes the firewall/cowl area has been a challenge. I'm handing the rust repair/welding work over to my uncle whose a master welder. While I focus on the engine build.

Thanks! Yes I do have front disc brakes planned. I'm hoping I can keep the 6 lug rallys but I may need to get some 15x8 rallys from a newer model C10 I imagine.

Welcome to the site from your neighbor over in Dallas.

They make 6-lug disc brake conversion rotors that are available through the aftermarket if you want to utilize the current wheels front & rear for now. As far as I know they use the same spindle bearing set-up as the HD 5-lug rotors so it's just a different 6-lug rotor.

Worth looking into.
