Re: Points to HEI Question ??
The power wire for points has built in resistance. Have to replace that wire for full 12vs

Re: Points to HEI Question ??
When I did mine many years ago (pre-internet) I ran a 12 ga wire from the HEI to the bulkhead. IIRC, I used the IGN UNFUSED pin for power (lower right on the bulkhead).

Re: Points to HEI Question ??
12 AWG GXL Pink with Packard Electric (Type 56) terminals. You'll need about 4 feet to go from the HEI (bat +) to the firewall bulkhead. Simply remove the old wire (stainless steel did you know?) and plug into the same socket.
Also, remove that secondary yellow wire going down to your starter. It is no longer required. Was a resistance bypass when starting the car. Pretty common on old GM points cars. Plugs should be gapped to .045" and wires changed to 8mm. Also, avoid the Chinese HEI as these are complete junk. Find an old original GM dizzy from the 70's and it will work perfectly.
