What is this wire for and what is missing?
1971 K10, Auto, gauges, no tach, HEI.
Im trying to figure out what the bare wire at the bottom of the picture for? The other non connected wire has "resistance" printed on it, so that would have went to the coil, the purple wire to the starter, the green to the temp and tan to the brake warning light. Would it be for an oil light or temp light? Also, it looks like a couple wires are missing. |

This should help, looks like an oil psi switch probably for the light to me.

I'm not sure if there is an oil warning light if there is an oil gauge. There are 2 warning lights in the cluster but neither one lights up when the key is turned on.

Re: What is this wire for and what is missing?
The resistance wire is there, it's the brown colored wire and has "resistance" printed on it. There is a sending unit on the passenger side head that is for the transmission controlled spark (TCS) system. The temp sending unit for the gauge comes from the water outlet at the front of the manifold. Maybe it's for a oil pressure light?

Re: What is this wire for and what is missing?
Sorry I misread the schematic earlier. There isn’t a wire in that position next to the solenoid wire in the diagram. I’ll have to check my truck and see if I have one there. The schematic has been very accurate for me in the past.

Re: What is this wire for and what is missing?
My service manual says it's a 20 gauge Brown wire circuit #4 That is a TCS feed.
