Wipers after windshield replacement
I purchased a 2002 GMC 2500hd end of last year and had the windshield replaced shortly after because it was leaking.
ever since then my wipers seem to be off, as in they are banging on the bottom of the windshield each cycle. and probably not swinging up far as they should... i figure the morons at the glass shop didnt put something back right. of course this drives me crazy. i plan on working on it tuesday since my office is closed for mardi gras, and was hoping someone might steer me in the right direction to fix this so i don't waste much time. any input is much appreciated! |

Re: Wipers after windshield replacement
Yes. Likely they didn't clock them properly. You can re-clock the wiper arms.
Remove the nut, pull the arm off the knurled shaft, and move it up a degree or two so it doesn't slam into the cowl anymore. The bottom of the sweep isn't as important as how much gets cleared up top to me. I usually let the arms run to the top of their arc and set at least the driver side arm as close as I dare to the edge of the windshield. Once I have em set I turn em on full bore and watch to make sure the driver side wiper isn't slamming into the A pillar.

Re: Wipers after windshield replacement
Thanks for the reply Hatzie -- again!
yes it was a really simple job, did not take me too long. from previous experience -- i had assumed that the wiper arm connections were keyed (only fit in one position). i thought i was in for a much larger project. |
