LS swap and Dakota Digital - gear position?
So I'm working on completing my LS swap into my '78 K5, and trying to wrap up the DD install as well. Initially, I didn't think I'd get a gear position indication on the DD display. but I do! HOWEVER - (and I'm NOT using the Gear sensor module they have - Coming straight fro the ECM to the BIM) In Park and Neutral I get an error. I was shocked to get the display in the first place, and I have no intention of getting that module. Is there a setting I've missed that will correct that error? It shows correctly if I'm in anything else besides Park or Neutral.

Re: LS swap and Dakota Digital - gear position?
08 LMG 5.3 and 4L60e (gen IV)
I have Dakota Digital and the BIM module. My gear indicator works although it doesn't show all the lower gears. I remember an old thread where there was a lot of disagreement if gears showed with Gen III or not. My biggest complaint with my setup is the clock resets to 12:00 every time I start it. |

Make sure you have battery power and ignition power installed in the right places on the control box. And that the battery power is staying on all the time.

Re: LS swap and Dakota Digital - gear position?
The GenV swap im working on won't read it correct either. I think you are going to have to get the module if you want it to work, or else put up with the error message. I have been trying to figure out how to turn the gear position off so it doesn't show at all and haven't had any luck with that either.

Re: LS swap and Dakota Digital - gear position?
It's been a couple of years now since I wired it up. Because I used the BIM module it's plugged into the OBD II outlet and the control box gets most of it's info through that connection so many of the other control box connections are unused. Power through the OBD port will be keyed only. I'm hoping the clock problem will be fixed by just hooking up a +12 volt constant. Will have to wait till spring to find out though.
