There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
I've seen a few GM C/30 NAPCOs in my days but never a 30/3500 series Marmon Herrington. Marmon was well known for outfitting C/40 and bigger GM trucks and I've seen a few Ford 1 tons before they started making factory F350 4x4s in 79. This is probably one of a very few. I thought real hard on getting it since it's only 250 miles from me but I don't really have the room now. If I hadn't just got another C/30 I would have jumped on this for sure.
Hopefully someone here can see the beauty in this truck and save it. Btw/ it does not have a divorced NP205 like the ad says, I believe it's a divorced Rockwell T-223.Ill try and post the additional.pics I have. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...0238100654270/

AWESOME find! That’s a true beauty. That’s one hell of a set of springs under the rear. Hope it goes to a good home.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
That's an awesome find Rob! When are you having it delivered? It says dana 60 in the ad, but we're dana 60 fronts even a thing then? I'm guessing that's a D70 since Ford and Dodge used them.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
What a great candidate for an off road Class C camper rig…. Already a 157” wb. I can just picture a vintage Mitchell motor home swapped onto the back - and take it wherever you want, where the crowds can’t follow! Great find, I love these old MH and NAPCO conversions. Any idea what fire dept it served in? Lt blue paint indicates it may have had a second life somewhere(?)

The guy that has it now hasn't owned it very long and didn't have any history on it. It still has an Oklahoma title tho and is in the oil field part of the state. It would be interesting to see what's under that blue paint on the doors. With those big spring packs and the 11,000 pound axle it was meant to carry some weight.

Thanks for the pic Rob. If it only had an Eaton front I'd be making plans for another butt chewing.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
The ultimate '72 4wd, a Heavy C3500 Marmon-Harrington conversion. Would have been even cooler as a big block Sierra Grande TH400. It's truly a K4500 with the 11,000# axle option. so that's an HO110 rear, right? Dodge had started using 8-lug hubs on their 1Ts by '71. I had 8-lug '71 W300 axles in the '69 Power Wagon I built, front & rear Dana70s

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
Appears to have the 5-10 lug system, used on HD 3500 or HD c 30's with 11k axles. Appears to be an ex Fire Dept brush or mini pumper.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
This is a pic from the side; are those huge plates mounting the rear springs the way the factory did it?
He's asking $5k, not bad really. |

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
I don't think so, looks to me like that's how Marmon-Herrington raised the rear to level the truck. My comapany had a few mid-80's GMC 7000's that where M-H 4X4 conversions.
Yup, super rare, no question!

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
So it has the original HO110 10-lug rear and M-H used an 8-lug Dana 70 up front. What a dream truck? that thing needs a low-profile utility body with an Alaskan perched on it. And Gear Vendors overdrive!

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
Right! OD is a must have! Also, a set of solid 19.5" wheels! Agree with others, rare, 4x4 conversions on 1 tons and HD 1 tons are very low production. I would prefer the 3500 4x4 over a C 50 4x4 .

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
On this rig with it's divorced transfer case I would just switch out the SM465 for a 2 wheel drive NV4500.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
Such a very cool truck. That rear side pic is very nice to see. They were probably the only ones to do the rear like that I'd have to bet.

Re: There is Rare, then there is Super Rare!
I have thought about brackets like that to lift a truck and wondered why I hadn't seen it done. Makes sense that M-H would since they are in the business of adapting drivetrain to chassis.
