Bowler clutch pedal conversion for nv4500/th400 swap

Any one use the Bowler 73-87 C10 clutch pedal kit. Im yanking the 454/400 out of my 1988 R3500 dually this spring in favor of a supercharged 6 litre/nv4500. This looks to simplify the job of sourcing a set of hydraulic hydroboost/clutch pedals for the swap, just add the new clutch pedal to the existing set add a wilwood master with linkage and your good to go. Id link to the site but not sure its ok, its easy to find if you google it.

Re: Bowler clutch pedal conversion for nv4500/th400 swap

Just googling the kit, it looks like a duplication of the factory parts. The pedal looks identical to the factory pedal. The pedal bracket fastens to the brake pedal bracket in a similar way to the factory setup. The differences I see is the factory setup uses rivets to fasten the two brackets together, and the factory setup uses brace rods that go back to the firewall to stiffen everything.

Do a little searching for the factory pedal setup. You should be able to buy a used 1985-87 pedal assembly for a similar price to that kit. The extra bracing of the factory setup would be a bonus.

Use the factory 85-87 clutch master, and adapt it a -3an line using this fitting. https://ormebrothers.com/products/me...pter-dual-seat – choose the 3AN/12mmx1.0 option from the drop down menu.

For connections and instructions for the external nv4500 slave, look at this thread. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=701900

Both the internal and external nv4500 slaves can be adapted to a -3AN fitting using the Russell 640281 fittings. The internal slave will need the gold-colored quick-connect removed before the 640281 fitting can be installed.

if you do the bowler route, make sure you make the braces that run from the pedal to the firewall were the master bolts up, otherwise it will eventually break the firewall out.

The factory braces for the 85-up pedals are pn 15521991 & 15522108. Though discontinued, i just bought a set a few months ago so there are still some on shelves

Re: Bowler clutch pedal conversion for nv4500/th400 swap

Thanks for all the tips just following up - finally installed this, but it went in a 84 k30.

The setup from bowler is very nice, went together real easy, welded it all together and mounted up very nice and rock solid with the bracing. Cut my stock brake pedal. Used a Wilwood gs master, a quick connect fitting to 4an line to the release bearing and a gm remote reservoir. Ill probably redo my first attempt at bracing rod to the firewall. Similar money compared to a buying a used hydraulic pedal from ebay.
