SPID Questions
Looking at buying this truck. It's advertised as a 1967 K10 Short box step side but the SPID doesn't list the model number on it. Has anyone seen this before? The Spid was originally covered by the Spicer sticker before he removed it. SPID and Vin plate match numbers.

Re: SPID Questions
Its kinda hard to read. Looks like a janesville truck. I wonder since it has special paint on there, that may have something to do with not bothering listing it. Was it a county road dept truck or something? I keep these on my phone.

Re: SPID Questions
Front and rear limited slip. I don't see that often.

Re: SPID Questions
That's a good thought. He said it's been a plow truck it's whole life so it's reasonable to think maybe the road department owned it.

Re: SPID Questions
And power steering in a 4 wheel drive truck. That's gotta be super rare

Re: SPID Questions
Good to know. Is there any other way to try to figure out if it's an original short bed without the model listed?

Re: SPID Questions
Several ways to tell. On the front drivers side frame should be a partial vin that matches your tag. Wire brush that area and if it matches, look for frame cuts under the cab or just behind the cab. Most people who cut and weld frames, reinforce with a plate or plates on the inside. Look for bolts instead of rivits on rear cab mounts. If it is all seamless , the bed paint should be the same color and (age) of paint as your cab. You should be able to scrape a hidden spot to find out. It really hasn't been really popular cutting down 4x4s until the last few years. 2x4s awhile now. So if they went to the trouble of doing that, it would have a fresher driveshaft, frame paint maybe (in spots),and then the possibility of a swb swapped frame if the vin and bed dont match. Let us know

Re: SPID Questions
Isn't the GVW different between long and short bed? That is shown on the VIN-plate. I know that is how to tell an original big block truck

There's one picture on this site that claims to be a real 67-8 4x4 power steering system. It's hard to tell if it's even a truck frame

Re: SPID Questions
Power steering was available but rare to find. It was the old ram-style such as used on early Vettes

Re: SPID Questions
This SPID proves that they exist. Unfortunately this one is gone. Probably removed it when they swapped a 350 in back in the day.

Re: SPID Questions
I’m not sure about this but it makes sense. I’ll have to do some digging on it.
