Anthony, I have read on the baord here that certain year Cadillac's are a perfect fit, but are more powerful. Also, is there a different blower motor to order for an A/C truck? I would imagine they would be more powerful. Good Luck, Joe Bob.

either your high is out on your switch or my best bet is that your full of leaves and debris in the heater box. They plug up after a few years of leaves and such falling down the cowl.

There is a considerable difference in A/C and non A/C blower motors....The Heater only blower motor specs are :- 6.25 amps max and 2550/2950 min/max RPM. The A/C blower motor:- 16.5 amps and 3700 RPM min. Most GM blower motors are interchangeable and can be gotten quite reasonably from most salvage yards.

But is a used one worth the trouble when a new one is less than $20. I got a new one from NAPA last year. They no longer differentiate between AC or nonAC. They were all AC versions and boy do they BLOW. It was like a wind tunnel with the new blower motor.

If you have tons of junk in the air passages, a new fan motor may not help much. As I recall (somewhat foggy here) you can pull the fan motor on a non-A/c truck without too much trouble from under the hood. May have to remove the hood hinge asm. On A/c trucks believe you need to drop the pass side inner fender a bit by removing the rear bolt, and the wheel arch bolts/bolts to fender but you can leave the three front bolts to rad support--.
You can then see what is happening. I will say that if the air passages are clear and the thermostat is working, an original fan will work fine. I've seen motor fans chewed into pieces from mice. I removed debris from every truck I've parted out~~ If you open the passenger side vent all the way and stick you hand thru the hole and down into the outer air box, you may find leaves, rags, dead mice, snake, tools, etc. Yep, found them all. You can also find all of the above behind the blower motor or up against the heater coil itself. Bet you find junk behind the fan~~~~ |
