Where does it go?
So I am reassembling my box (71 GMC longbed) and can't quite figure out where I had removed a brace rod from. Pretty sure it was somewhere just aft of the wheel well.
It looks like the support (16) from: https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...d-patch-panels Anyone have a pic of the aft underside of their box showing location of that rod? Thanks Mark |

Re: Where does it go?
hi Mark.i think you'll find they are the braces from the cross sill under the bed floor ahead of the rear wheels, down to the bed side right where the front of the wheel opening starts.

Re: Where does it go?
In front eh? ... I'm just assembling the bedwood and bed supports now, I'll see if I can figure it out then.

Re: Where does it go?
yes sir,in front of the back wheel right where the bottom of the box side meets the front of the rear wheel opening.you should have a bolt hole in the bedside looking right straight at the floor.that's where the brace attaches and then up to the sill.i'll take a pic of mine if you need it.Greg

Re: Where does it go?
Here's a couple pictures. Like said above, in front of rear tire. From Bed side to cross sill.
I had to look at my other truck to see how they went, when I installed them. They really pushed my aftermarket bedsides out into the proper position. They are mounted on the backside of the cross sill. |

Re: Where does it go?
Yep, there's a carriage bolt hole there and it looks like it will line up with the back of the bed support once installed ... should've taken pics. when disassembling.
Thanks |

Re: Where does it go?
You don't need pictures, just buy another truck to look at.
