Jaws Truck 56/58
Hi
This is my second build... I"m making improvements on what i didnt like about my last truck... Which i did love... Drove it for a year and half and someone gave me some stupid money for it... so it went.. I also had another truck at this time too so didnt seem like a bad move... The orange truck was the last one.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UTDuw4Kjy0 The blue one my 58 which is going to be a 1956 big back window truck... With a 6.0 LS with 4l80E transmission.. With a custom Tube chassis, Which id like to thank Slammed57 for the idea and measurements, using a C4 flat out front end.. The rear i went a little bit odd and stole a ford product.... I"m not a builder by trade at all, More just gotta move forward kinda guy.. When i First picked up the truck i'm not sure how to add this.. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xTrvxFj7XeU The Picture of the front cab is when i replaced the front Windshield area, Which I found out that there company that makes the inner piece as well, Totally worth buying both of them if you gotta replace this part of the truck... This is a pain in the butt to replace.... |

Re: Jaws Truck 56/58
The truck went through a Little bit of change here.. I've always wanted the big back window, I like the little one but after doing the swap.. What a difference...
This took me about 2 months, i bought a donor cab back window and took it all apart and grafted it in on the cab using the way they build it... |

Re: Jaws Truck 56/58
curious if you added supports for a high mount shoulder seat belt when you had it all apart. personally, I am using seats with integral seat shoulder belts for that reason. not a fan of lap only belts.

Re: Jaws Truck 56/58
nice work.
when I did a frame like that I used a pre cut tool to drop in between the frame rails and then used a ratchet strap to keep the rails at the same width as I built cross members etc. also, because I work alone, I used a length of light chain, like dog leash chain, attached to a pin on the front of the frame and then stretched to a predetermined spot on the opposite rear corner, just to check the corner to corner dimensions to ensure the frame was staying square after welding things onto it. the pins on the front were removed after. a simple rivet nut in the frame at the same place on both sides so a bolt can be screwed in when needed and when done the rivet nut can be left there ot removed easily. I have also used cross bracing before that is easily ground off after a few cross members have been installed to form a ladder look. curious what the rear suspension is from. nice fab work there. |

Thanks, I've gotten the inner frame stiffener in now and got the transmission mount on too..
With it all painted up too, gotta finish off bracing the fuel lines now and than get the cab ready to go back on the chassis.. |

Re: Jaws Truck 56/58
I"M thinking of running the exhaust under the rear end like the mustang did it or i'm going to side exit it by the running boards.. Gotta get the box on to kinda figure that one out...
Anyone ever done the reverse flip up hood too? |

Re: Jaws Truck 56/58
for a reverase flip hood check kabwe aka bam's build on here, page 3 has a pic of the workings. I think there was more further in but it is a long thread so get a coffee and settle in. interesting build and he shares a lot of how he does things.
