Proper Under-hood Wiring
Hi guys!
I'm working to clean up the under-hood situation on my new-to-me '69C-20. Someone mentioned that I should reroute the cruise control wiring as with stock, and I'm sure there are other things (there's a splice using Wago connectors and lamp wire...), so I plan to clean things up properly there as well. Could anyone show me a pic of how the cruise wires should be routed? Also, the cigarette lighter does not work. I'd like to have it for phone chargine. Is there a typical fail point on those that I should look into first? Thanks! Wes |

Re: Proper Under-hood Wiring
GM didn't fuse any of the lighters in the 60-early 70's. And I am unsure what year they decided this wasn't a good practice. My Auto-wire did fuse the power to the lighter. Other than the air-conditioning fan one has very few issues with stock wiring. I contribute it to the system being so simple, especially compared to modern stuff. Most, if not all, of the electrical issues I have had to deal with over the years had to do with owner modified stuff. Like tail lights and radios. One can't add a radio to an airplane without it being inspected or completed by a A&P mechanic. After inspecting so many hacked radio installs it's painfully obvious why. One looked like a rat's nest behind the radio. They had tied the dash light feed to the ground on the radio. Brown and black are the same are they not?
Cheers. |

This is everything we have for Cruise Control from the dealer installation instructions with diagrams to assembly service manual diagrams. Hopefully it helps.
