3/4 ton rear axle
I have a 3/4 ton trailing arm rear axel in a truck I am taking some parts off of. Is there much need for one or just scrap it with the rest of the truck.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
if it's an Eaton HO52 do not scrap it. round covers, resembles a ford 9 inch rear end? do not scrap it. either save it or sell it. if you only sell it for 25 dollars don't scrap it. people in the jeep world and stuff would love to have it. I'd love to have it. I have no use for it but i've bought one before just to keep it from the junk yard.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
if you're going to scrap it I will figure out how to work it in my schedule to drive to ohio and pick it up if it keeps you from scrapping it.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
again, don't scrap it. please. they don't make them any more, and alot of "modern" 14 bolt stuff, which isn't new any more either, will go in it. is anything else on the truck worth saving? pics of whole truck? as I said I'll figure out how to work it in somehow to go pick the thing up if it's just gonna get crushed.

Not much worth saving. A few little things has sat in the woods for around 30 years. I am pulling anything worth saving.

That poor truck. If it isn't too much trouble, maybe post some more pics inside and out just for the fun of it.....lord almighty that truck is in rough shape.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
I wonder how the truck is equipped. That could be a 4:11 ratio.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
The steering box is not even worth saving. I think the only options were gauges and a 350. Can’t read spid cut the dash out to hang on the garage wall. Is this the pre load bolt.

In case anyone is not aware, one-ton trucks had HO 72 differentials, and 3/4 tons (C/K20) had HO 52 diffs. Yes, it is. You have a C20 with an Eaton HO 52 with a pinion preload bolt.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
Ok I'm going to clarify somethings with Hos it depends on the GVW from what I have seen. I had a GM manual stating this. HO 72s came in 7200 gvw vehicles. Which some C20s where available with that the extra heavy duty especially. The HO 52 came in 5200 gvw c20 trucks and all 4x4 k20s because the k20s highest gvw was 5200 because the frames where basically the same as 1/2 ton frames with 3/4 ton parts. Your one ton dually had h110 rear axel. So I'd check the GVW since I see the load bolt it might be a HO 72.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axel
I don’t know much about this axel I am learning. The only thing I have around my house is the 14 bolt full floaters. From the 80’s. Here’s the tag I am sure you know more than me about this axel.

Re: 3/4 ton rear axle
If it's a C/20 it's an HO52. Some HO52s had the preload bolt as well. HO72s came in C/30s and the difference is in the brakes

Re: 3/4 ton rear axle
Thanks for the added info, guys. I knew there was some difference but couldn't remember if it was brakes, bearings, or something else.
