Re: Anyone here tried evaporust on the inside of rusty gas tanks?
I used it on the fuel tank of a 50cc Yamahopper that I use as a pit bike. I bought the bike at a swap meet, actually three of them. The previous owner stored in a shed for many years. The last time they were registered was in the late 1980's so the tanks were full of rust. I poured three bottles in the tank sloshed it around every 30 minutes or so for several hours. Then drained it back into the bottles. I then washed the tank out and now it is fine, no rust. Matter of fact I still have the bottles of Evaporust in my shop.

New gas tanks are pretty cheap. Mine was clean as new on the inside but still rusted through from the outside. I wouldn't waste time trying to clean one for as cheap as they are.

I wouldn't doubt that it could work, but I'd be concerned on how thin that metal has gotten.
My tank looked just fine from the outside, but sitting pretty much empty for about 20 years allowed the tank to rust away from the inside out. A new tank is not prohibitively expensive and then you're starting off with a fresh, clean system
