Vintage Air: Gen IV vs. GenV
I just noticed that Vintage Air is no longer selling the Gen IV systems. Now, there is a Gen V system upgrade. Anybody know the difference between the two?
Has anybody bought the Gen V? I'd like to know if it would be worth the $200-$300 price increase. (There are still a few Gen IV systems out there). |

I'm curious also and their blog articles lists a bunch of features but some of them are already included in gen iv... I'm guessing performance for both is probably very similar?

Re: Vintage Air: Gen IV vs. GenV
I'm gonna guess that since it's now a bigger motor and fan it will push more air but more importantly, to me anyway, it can now turn slower to get the same amount of airflow but yet be quieter.
I'm still seeing a few left over Gen IV units available but I think I will just go with the Gen V. Might as well get the latest and greatest! |

Re: Vintage Air: Gen IV vs. GenV
I have a gen 5 system but it is not completely installed yet. It is slightly smaller than the gen 4 which was important for my application (in a Willys wagon, not a C10). I had a gen 4 in my c10 and it had plenty of cooling capacity if you are wanting to save money. But, one of the reasons I wait to buy parts when I need them is because you can take advantage of the latest innovations.
