Help 2 identify - hose/cover
Can oneone help identified the sheath/tube/cover? inside my 72 C10 w/ 350/350 with air, I came across this tube about one foot long, which I first thought was a vacuum hose, but it turns out to be a soft rubber tube as there's a slit for easy inserting a wire or the like. It goes into the firewall via a grommet, just under the passenger side wiper arm. Does anyone have a clue what it is/was, or the intended purpose? thanks

Re: Help 2 identify - hose/cover
Only a foot long and slit -- I wonder if someone placed it there to cover (and protect) the vacuum line going to the water valve and (via a tee) to one of the A/C dashpots.

Re: Help 2 identify - hose/cover
ironically, my water value has been removed, making it a manual adjustment in the engine compartment to close off the hot water flow (North Carolina truck until recently). Are you suggesting the "vacuum line" to be a metal tubular line that was covered by this rubber sheath that went thru the firewall at the location shown in the picture?

If it came out of the grommit on the drivers side I would say it was for the oil pressure line. Some of them had a rubber sheath on them. LockDoc

That sure looks like a cut-off piece of old windshield wiper blade.
