Hydro-Boost installation
I am trying to install a Hydro-Boost unit to replace my break booster. I am trying to figure out how to properly adjust the push rod that goes in between the booster and the master cylinder. The end of the rod inside the Hydro-Boost looks like a an acorn nut. The rod that was inside my old booster sat a little less than .5 inches below the mounting surface.

Re: Hydro-Boost installation
you need a tool like this to insure that you have the correct depth and clearance between the end of the push rod and the piston in the MC
there should be between 1/32" and 1/16" clearance to insure that the piston is fully retracted in the MC when the brake is not applied

Re: Hydro-Boost installation
So I got my hydro boost all plumbed and installed today with no leaks YAY.
I started the truck up and tried bleeding the system by turning the wheel back and forth and pumping on the brakes. The pump is making a humming noise and the steering is squeaking like crazy when I go lock to lock and when I push on the brake pedal. I am hoping that I have just not bled it enough. I was told that I don’t need to leak any fluid when I bleed it. That the pressure should escape from the spring load pump cap. Also the steering and brakes are a little shuddery especially when I am using both the steering and the brakes at the same time. I have no tried driving it anywhere yet. |

Re: Hydro-Boost installation
I figured out that the reason it was stuttering and squeaking was because my belt was not tight enough.
