Never seen this brake combo.
Just got the truck like 2 weeks ago or so. So I'm just doing a look over and decided to change the brake calipers. Never seen this rotor/pad combo before. I even searched on line and found no such thing. Both sides and both rotors are the same.

Re: Never seen this brake combo.
Factory had the grooved rotors. It helped with vibration (squeak) reduction.

Re: Never seen this brake combo.
I always thought it was a wear indicator. When the grove is gone you replace the rotor

Why not both? You are probably right.

Re: Never seen this brake combo.
Yep my K20 has them. I thought they were trashed when I first looked at the rotor, then I noticed they were machined like that.

Re: Never seen this brake combo.
As others have stated, this is stock. My 72 rotors were the same. It makes it kind of a pain to get the pads out after they have worn into the groove. If you get the rotors machined, make sure to let the machinist know this is stock. I've seen where they try to machine the rotor until the groove is gone and then you are left with rotors destined for the scrap pile! I had mine machined by an old school machinist and they are smooth as can be and still have the groove.

My '67 which had been converted to front disc by the PO had those too.
