How are the BSM's attached?

I hate em, and they are wasted anyway, but I don't want to hurt the paint.

Removed mine the first week I purchased my truck new in 94. Attached with double sided tape. A piece of high test fishing line used like a saw makes quick work to get molding off. An eraser makes getting the residue off the paint easy. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/PEI-Remover-A.../dp/B0983P67XV Goo-Gone, your fingers and a rag is more time consuming and will probably leave blisters on your fingers. IMO a heat gun just makes more of a mess, there is risk of paint damage and you still have sore fingers and blisters. BTW, I remove emblems and molding often as I work at a body shop.

Thanks Richard, I figured it was double-sided tape, but didn't want to find out that there were holes on a couple pieces. I did the fishing string deal on my square-body, and it ended up pulling some paint too....I think a p/o stuck them on with super glue.

I think they use a heat source, something like a hair dryer, to help soften the tape.

This is correct, although it was more to make the molding pliable rather than soften the tape.

Moldings were laying in heaters line side, the premask was removed and they were stuck on.

The other thing is that they were rolled after installation. Like - hard - using a mechanical roller that applied pressure as the vehicle crept through the fixture. There was enough pressure to oil can the sheet metal.

I’m contemplating removing mine, as they are in bad shape. I’ve seen replacement BSM on eBay if I decide I like it better with it on there.

Mine has BSMs, but what do I call it on the front bumper, DBM? Deluxe Bumper Molding? Do you really think yours are BSMs or are they TSOB? Tacky Stick On Bling? I remember when I ordered my '92 GMC SLE in solid Woodland Green. The idea was a traditional work truck on the outside with a cozy inside. I wished I could have had the trim deleted but they don't do that anymore. I planned to remove it but never did. I decided I likes the little bit of chrome on the side and it actually catches some mud from tires splashing up on the door. I took the emblems off the tailgate and the 4x4 sticker off the bed with a heat gun, but it was new then
