Glove box OEM build sheet
My 72 K20 Pickup has the original build/protecto option sheet from when it was driven home new from the dealer
1 family owned I see that repo sheets are available blank and the 72 sheet is unreadable. Is there a way to get that info from using the VIN ? if so I will have to dig up type writer and the plastic sticky that sticks it to the glove box door. Going stock with the resto Thanks for all that can provide any help. |

Re: Glove box OEM build sheet
Nope. Not for US built or sold trucks prior to 1976/77.
If your truck was built in Canada, or in the US for Canadian consumption, then GM of Canada would have the information, as well as pricing, selling dealer detail, and some production volume information. https://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/ K

Re: Glove box OEM build sheet
Do you have the build sheet? It's generally between the springs and the foam, under the passenger side of the seat. If so you should be able to reconstruct the data for a new SPID from it.

If you want the spid to look original check out www.outintheshop.com
He spent a lot of time and effort getting them to look original and will do pretty much anything you want on it. He also has a section on most of the available RPO codes as well.

Re: Glove box OEM build sheet
Confused by the OP's terminology. Perhaps for clarifications. Trucks have the following primary identifications, only speaking for 1971ish, but most applies to 67-72. I'd think.
SPID, on the glove box lid. I think that's what the OP is referencing as a build sheet. Build Sheet: If my education is tuned right, (Keith) not all trucks came with a build sheet, depends on the factory. As mentioned above, they're usually found between the seat cushion and seat springs. Protecto Plate (edited, thanks 67 Twins). That came with the original paperwork, such as the warranty and owners manual. VIN Plate: That's on the LH door jam LH door sticker.

Re: Glove box OEM build sheet
The Protecto Plate was your warranty card.

Re: Glove box OEM build sheet
I heard comedian Norm MacDonald say he was thinking about the abbreviation "ID":
"I" is short for "i" "D" is short for "...dentification". He said it seems to him the "D" is doing most of the heavy lifting there. K
