Firewall mounted coil

I'm about to endeavor into un-ls swapping my 66 Gmc and installing a 283 with a tri power setup in its place. The truck has a deluxe style heater box, so my space is limited, but I'd like to mount the ignition coil somewhere on the firewall. Has anyone else done this and made it look good? Id like to keep things looking at least somewhat clean.

Mount it on the inside of the firewall.

Not on a truck but did a similar style mounting on my '57 Chevy 2dr. sedan. Am running a stock '57 2x4s intake on a 283 and the original setup back then used a coil bracket which mounted to the stock distributor in a figure 8 type arrangement. VERY hard to find and very PRICEY. I found a coil bracket on eBay that I bolted to the firewall just above and to the right of the distributor cap. Worked out really well.

I had been looking for a three deuce setup for my 283 and did not find one when I ran across this original 2x4s intake and went that direction. Member Elliott949 has a '67 shortbed and is running a 3x2s setup. Only time I've seen such in a 67-72 pickup. Pretty cool to see that when he raises the hood.

You may just see a second such setup soon. Once I'm up and running I'll probably be trying to hit shows all over Kansas, so I'm sure we'll cross paths at some point.

Would be great to meet up at some point. Love the look of 2x4s or 3x2s on the older vehicles but just don't see either one much at all anymore at car shows. Even a single 4BBL is not as common as it once was with so many LS and Fi motors being swapped in. Like seeing those two and three chrome breathers in a row.

Why limit yourself only to 2 or 3 carbs when 6 or 8 are possible.
I’ve run dual quads and a fake tri-power(made from a stock 2bbl intake with 2 dead carbs outboard. Used a flat plate to mount the outboard ones along with useless but shiny linkage. You had to look real close to see what it really was. Fooled a lot of people.

So this is how I mounted mine when I added tripower to my 62. Once you get the tripower set up correctly you're gonna love it.
