LWB 4x4 to SWB 4x4
Anyone have experience doing a conversion of LWB to SWB on a 4x4? Seems like shortening the frame, driveshaft, replaced parking brake cable and replaced brake lines---would do the trick. Am I missing anything of significance?

A shorter bed would work also....otherwise that just about covers it.

Hey Mudder, did you cut down the newer frame that You used on your swap? I am getting close to doing this swap and wondered if I will need to cut the frame also since the wheel base is a few inches different. 70 cab and step bed going on a 76 swb 4x4 frame.

Yep I started out with a 77 short chassis and shortened it 1 1/2 inches behind the cab to get the wheel wells in the right place. I have pic of all my mounts if you want. Email me your addy.

Thanks Mudder, You already emailed me your pics awile back, and I have them saved on my computer. I did not know you cut the frame though. You must have cut down the driveshaft as well? or will one work from a 70 4x4 swb? Is there any other info I would need?
Huck sorry if I hijacked here. I thought it was related and hope you dont mind. |

I cant remember if I cut the drive shaft that time or not. It has been lengthened and shortened a few times. You will most likely have to shorten it.
