OBS '99 Tahoe-Cracked Dash

My D/D Tahoe has a rather serious crack in the actual dash upper section which is just below the windshield. Not sure how this was accomplished, knew it had a crack when I bought it but seems to be getting worse thru no action of my own. What's a possible fix? Can that entire complete dash section be replaced, cost prohibitive I'm thinking? Dash mat which I don't much care for but then I also don't much care for looking at the cracked dash.

Replace the dash, yes, that’s an option.

Dashskin is another. I used it before in another OBS I had years ago and it was fine by me.

Re: OBS '99 Tahoe-Cracked Dash

Thanks for the reply. Not sure I want to do the Dashskin bit. Looked on line to U-tube about replacing the dash on an OBS Tahoe. U-tube video was pretty good for an explanation. Looks do-able if a person can find a good original GM dash piece. Didn't seem too hard just a bit of time and care since dealing with plastic. May check with a salvage yard or two some what local to me and see what they get for one. Maybe let me pull it myself which would give some first hand experience......removal is just the reverse of install right?

Re: OBS '99 Tahoe-Cracked Dash

That’s nothing compared to mine. The whole dash has started squeak and rattle driving down the road. It’s cracked from the driver side defrost duct all the way up to the outer dash bezel next to the radio, and on down between the radio and passenger side air bag. It’s been gradually getting worse over the last 13 years I’ve had it. I’m not aware of a replacement dash and I wouldn’t bother with a junkyard dash. It’ll probably crack coming out of going back in. The 95-98 trucks are notorious for this problem. I’m going to use the dash skin one of these days if someone doesn’t start making a repro dash first.
