Delco G1852 temp sending unit?

I am looking for information about the AC Delco temp sending unit G1852 - GM 12334869.
Several yars ago I read a discussion about how an aftermarket sending unit was some way better than what GM was selling.

Does anyone remember that discussion?

Guess I will order a G1852 from RockAuto and see what they send.

Re: Delco G1852 temp sending unit?

A sending unit like this is just a variable resistance based on water temp. The gauge in the cluster senses that resistance and changes the needle position accordingly. FWIW, I've never found the temps to be super accurate on these 80's electronic gauges. I recently ordered the same sender from Rock Auto, and my gauge still reads way off.

So be prepared to be disappointed if your gauge still reads incorrectly. I do understand its not always appealing to mount a mechanical gauge in the cab though.

Slammed84 where did your G1852 from Rockauto say it was made?
