Would you fill in the middle hole with a 3rd speaker?
I removed the dash pad this morning in my 86 GMC to replace the 2 corner speakers and noticed there is a place for a speaker in the center. Would you put a third speaker in up front?
I have 2 new corner speakers coming for the rear. |

Not sure the size but a compact sub would fill in the bottom end.

Re: Would you fill in the middle hole with a 3rd speaker?
Unless you could find a sub-woofer type speaker that size(probably rare), not sure you will gain much for a sound system since you are adding rear speakers that will most likely be better then any single speaker in the center slot.
OTOH - if you do CB/Ham, that could make a good location for an aux speaker for that as most auto mount radio speakers point down to the carpet. Or maybe an aux speaker for your phone as most phone speakers have issues competing with the many sounds in a square cab. |

Thank you for the responses. I think I'm going to leave it empty!

Re: Would you fill in the middle hole with a 3rd speaker?
I put two 4 inchers in the corners, and 2 3.5 inchers in the middle spot on a plate I got off of ebay that goes in that spot.
Hooked all of it together and with an amp it might have sounded better but my Kenwood head unit didn't have enough power to push 6 speakers so I unhooked the 3.5's and am just running the two corner 4" and two 6x9's in the back. |
